Aberdeen branch - absolutely the worst letting agency I have ever dealt with. When I moved in to the flat, there was no bed. After a week of trying to convince me that the sofa in the kitchen was, in fact, my bed, it took them a further 2 weeks to provide one.

It took them 6 months to replace a hoover, but judging by some of the comments on here that's actually pretty quick for them.

Icing on the cake was finding out that the entire building was a site of serious disrepair and mojor building work started with no warning. Every time it rained water was dripping from the ceiling and running down the walls. Martin&Co's response? "Turn the heating up". When the builders knocked a hole in my wall, they were still claiming it was habitable.

I've now moved out, given notice and demanded rent back. Got a funny feeling they won't be too forthcoming with that...

Would also add absolutely no communication between staff, no records made of communication between me and any of them and they generally don't give a toss about you.
Avoid at all costs.

My daughter and her friend rented a flat in Torry. It was advertised as two bedroom but the box room was big enough for a small single bed only. Clothing drawers and personal belongings had to be kept in living room for the year. Both girls went home for a holiday only to come home to a soaked bedroom carpet, damp on walls and mould forming in every room. When it rained the bedroom window leaked and flooded the floor, soaked the curtains and walls. The flat was the top floor and the roof leaked in the living room as well. Martin and Co.'s solution was to "turn up the heat and open the windows". They blamed the girls stating that "their lifestyle was causing the damp". They were told not to hang their clothes around the house to dry or to take hot steamy showers. The girls were left to borrow a ladder from friend and clean the mould off the ceilings themselves to no avail as it simply returned in a few days due to the walls being damp still from the rain and snow. Phone calls and emails from myself, my husband, and the other girl's parents and many unreturned phone calls were met with "turn the heat up and open the windows" when they did bother to return calls. Who can afford to turn the hearting up and open the windows? After threatening legal action we were finally given the landlords contact info. His solution was for the girls to move out temporarily so that the leaks could be fixed. Where were they to go? The landlord arranged to do the work over the Christmas holiday when the girls returned home. It turns out that the workers "fixing" the problems were actually staying, cooking, and sleeping in my daughter's flat over the days it took to fix the problems. Which of course were never fixed. We tok our daughter back to Aberdeen after the New Year to find the beds slept in (gross) and tub dirty. We spent the night and during the night it began to rain. When I went to look out the window I noticed the carpet squish under me and a puddle in the window ledge. Curtains soaked again. Next day on the phone and we honestly spent the entire rest of the contract terms being told that there was no leak, no mould, and no problem other than humidity that the girls themselves were making. Upon the end of the contract the "independent party" who checks the apartment for damaged items submitted a false list of damaged and missing items of which was taken off of security deposit. Thankfully, we had a copy of the moving in list and was able to prove we were being cheated. They finally paid the rest of the deposit. Another things is that they charge you a "cleaning fee" when you move in a flat which is a rip off because they also charge you a "cleaning fee" when you move out and then charge the next tennant an additional "cleaning fee". Two years down the line my daughter receives an email stating that they were checking their books and found that they made a mistake and that she owed them money for a "admin fee". Can you believe that? Two years down the line? Worst dealings with ANY business I've ever, ever, ever had. The though of your child living in mouldy and damp is bad enough but to be treated as if you should say, "Thank you." for it is disgusting.
