What agent could do to change your mind?
They could not have changed my mind after the events detailed in my review. The behaviour and attitudes demonstrated are unacceptable in any industry and I sincerely hope that Martin and Co Whitefield are held to account in as many areas of misconduct and incompetency as possible.

I wish I had seen this before I entered into a letting with Martin and co. I really feel sorry for the owners of the property I am letting. The supposed inventory inspector obviously missed a number of key items. Things like a film of grease across the kitchen faulty broken equipment which was reported as "excellent" one hand does not know why the other does!!! What agent could do to change your mind?
1) They could have advanced knowledge of the property they were trying to sell, which would have made them seem less incompetent. 2) They need to be more professional 3) They need to be polite and not rude 4) they need to allow time for viewings, or address the reasons they double booked us I will never use Martin & Co Chelmsford fin the future and would discourage anyone from using their services.

Absolutely awful, I would avoid Chelmsford Martin & Co at all costs. The whole process, which should have been relatively simple, has been a complete mess. During the time they were in contact with me, I have spoken to at least 5 different members of the team, who I have to explain my problems too all over again, it would seem there is no communication within their team. What agent could do to change your mind?
Too much work. Ive done everything my end correctly. I shouldnt need to work round my full time job and their opening hours to make sure that they can do their job. Its not much to ask that a company can treat their customers like customers and not just a profit margin.

It's interesting That Martin and Co see fit to discuss clients- past or present I don't know which - financial and employment status on a public forum...I'm sure that goes somewhere against data protection which they clearly state in their terms and conditions they will only share with the Credit Referencing agency and Landlord...slick move guys. I also had real problems with this agency. They wanted to give me back only £30 of my £650 deposit due to mould on the inside of our flat! HOW EXACTLY IS THAT OUR FAULT?? They were lucky we didn't complain about health issues to be quite honest! They were just completely inept and only interested in taking our (massively inflated) rent each month! Moved to a private landlord for £170 pm cheaper and MUCH happier! AVOID MARTIN & CO!!! ...

I've the same problem with them as a landlord. Promise you the earth until they have your signature, then nothing! Meant to have the full management service, so far not had one written report back on the checks they are contracted to do every quarter, or even verbal report. ...

Actually listen to your customers. Respond to phone calls. Call back when you say you're going to. Tell us when things are actually going to happen. Don't lie to my face about things i know to be true. Stop charging people lots of money for what is essentially photocopying. Do something earn all the fees we paid you.

Admit their sytem failed, or wan't acted upon correctly. Get the tenant out at their own expence, refund the management fees and get the repairs sorted out of their own pocket, or their liability insurance.

We are sorry this tenant was not happen with out service after they have vacated untill they vacated they wanted to stay in the property and have a loft converions to increase the space available for their growing family, or move to anther Martin & Co property. This tenants deposit was successfully resolved to an amicable agreement between ourselves a few weeks after this was written. Unlike most agents we do provide an out of hours mobile number for tenants to contact, when the office is closed ...

I am very disappointed to read the above review. I would like to clarify a few points...We, as agents, do not decide what works are required at the end of a tenancy nor do our landlords. It is an independent Inventory Clerk that attends and decides, therefore this cannot be considered as biased. All tenants are provided with an inventory at the beginning of their tenancy and advised to check through the property thoroughly within the first 7 days. There are also comprehensive tenants notes pr ...
